Apache Tears Motel
Tucson, AZ Photo by RoadsidePeek.com
Welcome to the Apache Tears Motel, off the old Benson Highway in Tucson,
Arizona. Featuring a name that
hearkens back to legends of the skirmishes between US troops and Apache
Indians back in the 1800's, the Apache Tears displays a jewel of a figure
by the roadside.
Check out the figure's paint scheme. The statues itself has to be seen
to appreciate its size and the solemnness it portrays seems to suffocate
the air around it.

The Red Mountain Motel is just a few lots west of the East Mesa Inn next to a place that now makes custom golf cart. I'm not sure but i think there was a little diner at one time that kind of went with a motel but I'm not sure. 01-13 (Elgin MacMillan)

Check out this motel marquee standing outside of the Sunset Motel in Wenden, AZ. Although the "sunset" portion of the sign appears to be getting rather weather-beaten these days, at least the place is still "air cooled". 11-09

One of the most well known motels along Van Buren in Phoenix was the Log Cabin Motel. With its log cabin themed lodging rooms, the motel was once a nice stop to spend a night while visiting the city. Who could reside lodging in a themed motel with a name like log cabin.
Unfortunately, the Log Cabin Motel met its fate with a bulldozer this past July. Another of the old Phoenix motor courts has now become just a memory. 11-10

The East Mesa Inn Motel is located near the Twin Knoll in East Mesa just a few miles west of Apache Junction. They may have added the "Apartments" part to the sign.
The sign itself advertises kitchenettes and color TV prominently. 01-13 (Elgin MacMillan)
Airport Central Motel (Demolished)

Here's an old motel that appears to have seen its best days long ago. The Airport Central Motel looks like it may have been quite a place to stay the night in back in the day. A rather large complex. this may have been the mid-century version of resort living. 11-20
